Visual poetry.

Ballad of a soldier. Grigori Chukhrai. I heard a lot about this movie and when I found it, I did not want to expect too much of it as to ruin the movie beforehand. It turned out that the story was very tmuch a non-Hollywood warstory. The acting is good which is no surprise. I think the one thing that what sets this movie apart is the fact that although it is a Russian movie and could have been filled with loads of socialism/communism and propaganda it was not. This gave it a feeling of being genuine and sincere with nice imagery and exactly that made it a good movie to watch with drama and character. I liked it. (1959)
